A view on Islay that has changed significantly since this picture was taken in 2003. This is the view from the road down on to Port Askaig with the hotel and the shop, as well as the car park and waiting area for the ferry. Since then the area has been enlarged significantly at the cost of millions of pounds by blasting a lot of rocks away. A large holding area has been created behind the shop where you can see the cars parked in the picture. The road now goes significantly further to the right.
