Travelling along the south coast of Islay with the ferry one of the most interesting views is of Laphroaig distillery, which only slowly comes into view as the ferry passes. Initially parts of the distillery remain hidden by the low hills to the east of Loch Laphroaig, they are slowly revealed as the ferry progresses towards Port Ellen.
