| One of the biggest building projects on Islay ever was probably the enlargement of Port Askaig. Large chunks of the cliff and hill were removed to increase the space for the waiting area and the car park. Houses were moved and the road sweeping down the hill completely rebuilt in a wider circle. This picture shows the works in 2004, a good impression of the scale of the project. |
