Most of my pictures from the Isle of Islay only show a small area. On this page I will collect pictures showing you a little bit more: Quicktime VR Panoramas of the whisky distilleries on Islay. To view them you will need the Apple QuickTime plugin installed on your PC. The previews on this page give you an impression of what to expect, follow the links under the previews for the full experience. Note: Most of the panoramas are quite big, depending on your connection speed they might take a while to download.
A view over Loch Laphroaig with the Laphroaig Distillery (2MB download). This panorama was taken on a calm summer afternoon in August 2006, the clouds just breaking up a little. You can see a number of distillery buildings on the shore of the loch and also look out to the sea with Texa in the distance.
A view over Lagavulin Distillery (2MB download) from the pier in Lagavulin Bay. Taken on the same afternoon as the Laphroaig panorama just down the road. A good impression of how close the distillery buildings are to the shore.
You were expecting this, weren't you? Yes, the third panorama is the next one on the south coast of Islay, a view of Ardbeg Distillery in the late afternoon sun (2.6MB download). Taken on the same afternoon as the two above.
A different view of Ardbeg taken a year later in the Ardbeg Distillery and Coastline Panorama, Islay (5MB download). The view is from a small hill just west of the distillery, overlooking the distillery and Loch an t-Sàilein. Taken in mid June 2007.
A view over Bruichladdich village with Bruichladdich Distillery (2.4MB download). The panorama, taken from Bruichladdich Pier, covers most of the village, the distillery and a small part of the coastline along Loch Indaal. Taken in mid June 2007.
A panorama of Kilchoman Distillery on the west coast of Islay (2MB download). The view is from a corner of the yard, taking in most of the distillery buildings. Taken on a beautiful sunny afternoon in June 2007.
A panoramic view into the still house at Kilchoman distillery (1.5MB download). The view focuses on the wash and spirit stills flanking the spirit safe, but other areas are also visible. Taken on the same day as the panorama of the distillery above.
More panoramas will follow here
More to come over time, when I had the chance to take pictures and put them together into a panorama. If you have any suggestions please send me an email and I'll see what I can do during one of my visits to Islay. If you liked these panoramas you might also be interested in some other panoramas from Islay.
