The former shortest railway on Islay (at Laphroaig) Posted on 23 August 2013 by Armin Grewe It is now gone and has been replaced by a chute or conveyor belt (unfortunately I can’t remember…), but this was once the shortest railway on Islay. It was used to transport peat to the drying kiln at Laphroaig distillery.
