Looking across the Sound of Islay from a ferry moored at Port Askaig to the hills and mountains in the south of Jura. The famous Paps of Jura on the left with Beinn a’Chaolais closest to us, Beinn an Oir to the left of it. I’m not sure of the hills in the centre and to the right, I think Glas Bheinn and Dubh Beinn will be among them. Also Feolin Ferry, the landing for the Jura ferry, at the shore on the right.

A view from an Islay ferry to Port Ellen on a November 2025 afternoon: On the left some dramatic sunlight breaking through the clouds while on the right some heavy rain is pouring down over the south east coast of Islay.
