A view inland from the highest dune at Saligo Bay, looking the opposite way from the dune and beach panorama. The Paps of Jura nicely visible in the distance in the beautiful June evening light.
A beautiful sunny June afternoon on Islay (on the longest day of the year to be precise), Saligo River rushing down towards Saligo Bay on its way from Loch Gorm to the Atlantic.
After watching a sunset on the west coast of Islay I stayed out on the beach in Saligo Bay to enjoy the beautiful light of the gloaming. Just as I was thinking about leaving I spotted the full Moon rising over the dunes. The picture doesn’t do it justice, but I hope it at least gives you an idea of the beautiful sight of the Moon coming up behind the dunes.
