A memory from almost 2 decades ago, Port Askaig Stores back in 2002. While the stores haven’t changed much the surroundings have changed dramatically since then. The house in the background is gone, as are many of the trees, all during the redevelopment of Port Askaig with the expansion of the waiting area and the widening of the road.
Returning to Islay from the popular day trip to Colonsay on a Wednesday, parts of Port Askaig just visible on the right.
A panoramic view of Port Askaig at the Sound of Islay, seen from the small pier of the fishing harbour. The lifeboat at its moorings on the left. The MV Isle of Arran at the main pier (although she left soon after to make space for the arriving MV Hebridean Isles) and the MV Eilean Dhiura at the small pier. The Paps of Jura in the distance on the right.
