Loch Fyne panorama from above Inveraray (Journey to Islay)

Image

Panoramic picture of a view over a sea loch from a hill, an inviting bench in the foregroundAn inviting bench (I’ve sat on it as well) to enjoy the view over Loch Fyne near Inveraray. The bench is next to the watchtower/folly above Inveraray Castle, near the summit of Dun na Cuaiche (248m). A great stop on the journey to Islay, from memory the walk up the hill doesn’t take very long and the views on a sunny day are very rewarding.

Window into the past in Port Charlotte, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of an old photo being held into a new photo, showing a window into the pastA rather unusual picture for this blog, combining a bit of old Islay with new (or better, current) Islay. An old picture of the Lochindaal distillery and the Port Charlotte Hotel is held up into the current view, providing a “window into the past”. Trying to achieve a reasonable alignment (a perfect alignment proved impossible) was quite a challenge…

Kilnaughton beach and Port Ellen, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of the end of a sandy beach with a village visible across a bayA view of the north eastern end of Kilnaughton beach, Port Ellen visible in the distance on the right across Kilnaughton Bay. Between the rocks the remains of the old hut, to my knowledge it was an old changing hut for bathers.
