Evening walk at Loch Gruinart, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a group of walkers approaching a sea loch in beautiful evening sunshineI took this picture during an Islay walking week a few years ago, on a beautiful evening with wonderful light we walked at Loch Gruinart. Here we are on our way across a field on the way to the shore. Look closely and you can see Killinallan and the dunes at Killinallan Point across the loch. In the distance also Mala Bholsa.

Picture of a view from dunes down to a beach, two walkers passing in the distanceOK, I admit, you have to look closely to spot them. But there are indeed two walkers visible on the beach at Killinallan Point, walking along the entrance to Loch Gruinart. The dunes at Ardnave visible on the other side of the loch.

Photographing Terns at Ardnave, Isle of Islay

Picture of a man taking a picture of a bird in flightA picture courtesy of my sister Imke as that’s me in the picture. This is near Ardnave (you can see Killinallan farm on the other side of Loch Gruinart in the distance), where we went for a short walk along the shore. Here I’m trying to take a picture of a Tern (at least that’s what I think it was), but there were a variety of birds in the area. We also heard a Corncrake in the area, although we never managed to see it.
