Approaching McArthur’s Head Lighthouse, Isle of Islay

Picture of a group of walkers approaching a lighthouse, descending a hillVisiting McArthur’s Head lighthouse on the entrance to the Sound of Islay is one of the highlights during the Islay walking week. It can only be reached by boat or on foot, so not many people have visited it. The approach is usually descending from the hills above, a quite interesting experience when so far you’ve only ever seen it from below, from the ferry.

Imke on a Tricycle on Jura

A few years ago my sister Imke joined me on another Islay holiday (her third) and we went on a number of walks. One took us over to Jura, where we walked from Jura House Gardens back to the ferry. During the walk we found a broken toy tricycle. Imke got on to the tricycle, pretending to ride it, and I took a few pictures. This is one of them.
