I hope I’ve got the identification right and don’t have to change the title of this post, but I believe this is a rare (in Europe, as it normally lives in America) Green-Winged Teal duck (as it has a vertical white stripe instead of the horizontal white stripe of the Eurasian Teal duck). Spotted from the RSPB hide at Gruinart in June 2018.
Ooh! Has it migrated, do you think?
That, or blown of course, not sure how they come over. From what I’ve read there are about 20 seen each year in Scotland.
Goodness!
Morning, Armin! Great to admire your beautiful pic while sipping my wake-up coffee!
Wow! That is a rare sight!
Another view of the rare (on Islay, as it normally lives in America) Green-Winged Teal Duck. Spotted from the RSPB hide at Gruinart in June 2018.
