Cliffs under dark clouds, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of steep cliffs under dark cloudsA view from the north west of Islay, close to where the Exmouth ran aground and sank tragically with the loss of many souls. The beach of Traigh Bhan with the small memorial in the dune above is just to the left (not in picture)

Rainy landscape, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a hilly landscape in the rainSometimes it rains on Islay. Which is good as a lot of that water will be used to make whisky (of course it’s also good for farming and for general water supplies). While the views might not be far they can still be mystic as these hills in the rain show.

Rock canal in Machir Bay, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a small rock canal on a shoreYou need a bit of luck to see this scene in Machir Bay as this interestingly shaped natural channel at times is filled up with sand, at other times is free like when I took this picture. When it’s free it’s nice to watch the water going in and out and splashing into the small pool at the end.
