A beautiful April evening on the west coast of Islay. After watching/photographing/filming the sunset it’s always worth staying a bit longer for the gloaming, the beautiful mild last light of the day. Here the view goes out from the top of the high dunes over Kilchoman beach, Coul Point and Machir Bay. If you look closely you can also make out some geese during their roost on the beach.

It’s long gone now, but once the wave power station near Claddach was an important part of research into how to harness the incredible power of the sea. This is (or better was) the rather brutalist sea facing wall of the station, the inlet where the waves roll in at the bottom.

Spotted during a walking week walk on the Rhinns of Islay, a nice small flower coming up in the dead and fresh growth grass. And as I have no idea what this flower is feel free to leave its name in the comments if you do know.
