The graveslab of Donald MacGill-uisbeag ((MacIllaspy) in his Highland armour in the chapel on Eilean Mòr at Finlaggan. At his feet a birlinn, a widely used ship at the time (mid 1500s).
A view over Loch Finlaggan with Eilean Mòr and Eilean na Comhairle from the hills to the east of the loch (I’m not entirely sure from where I took this picture, possibly Robolls Hill). On Eilean Mòr you can make out the ruins of the buildings, also to the right the bridge to the ‘mainland’.
A view over the two islands in Loch Finlaggan, the ancient seat of the Lord of the Isles on Islay. Two visitors walking through what remains of the buildings on Eilean Mòr, with Eilean na Comhairle visible behind.
