Loch Lomond from the A817 (Detour to Islay)

Picture of a view from a hill over a large loch (lake) with islandsAn early view from the A817 detour on the way to Islay (see also the view of the Arrochar Alps from the A817), looking back over Loch Lomond. It’s a fairly steep climb from the A82, but well worth it for the views.

Remote north western landscape, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a remote island landscape, looking towards a distant coast from low hills over a moorland landscapeA view north west from somewhere in the hills between Gortantaoid and Bridgend (that was the general route of our walk). Not sure which loch that is, there are several in the area. In the far distance you can make out Loch Gruinart and Ardnave with the Atlantic behind it.
