Ferry approaching the Oa under a crescent Moon, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of the bow of a ferry under the last evening light, a crescent Moon in the skyEvening ferry crossings to Islay I think often provide the best views, like this one from a crossing in April 2016. On the way to Port Ellen the MV Finlaggan is approaching the Oa, a crescent Moon low in the evening sky not long after sunset.

Changes at a famous Jura boathouse (seen from Islay ferry)

Picture showing a boathouse where work is being carried out, seen from a passing ferryA view from the Islay ferry in April 2016, looking towards Ardfin on Jura, on the left also Am Fraoch Eilean. The building in the centre is the old Ardfin boathouse, to my knowledge currently being converted to some kind of cafe or bar on the new Jura golf course. But the boathouse is also famous for something else, as far as I know it’s where the KLF burned £1,000,000 back in 1994.

View into the Sound of Islay

Glas Eilean in the foreground on the left, Jura on the right. Through the gap between the two you can see Dunlossit House, Port Askaig is just to the right of it (hidden by Jura).
