When McArthur’s Head lighthouse was still manned the lighthouse keepers certainly had some stunning views on a clear day. Towards the left the Sound of Islay stretches into the distance, Sgarbh Breac (364m) to the left of the lighthouse. Across the sound the south coast of the Isle of Jura with the Paps of Jura towards the centre of the picture.
An interesting view from the Islay ferry on the way to Port Askaig, light and dark on Jura. While Beinn a’Chaolais and other hills are in dark shade the lower areas close to the Sound of Islay are illuminated by bright sunlight.
