A November afternoon in the north of Islay, looking over the mouth of Loch Gruinart with Killinallan Point on the other side.
A memory from an Islay walking week in 2012, Iain MacPherson telling us some old Islay stories at Killinallan Point on a walk to Gortantaoid. Ardnave and Nave Island in the background on the other side of Loch Gruinart.
A different view of Loch Gruinart at Ardnave, not from the top of the dunes, not from the beach either, but from somewhere half way, from a gap in the dunes. It’s low tide in the loch with sandbanks visible almost all the way. Killinallan Point visible across the loch, also the tops of the Paps of Jura on the horizon.
