Waterspout in Machir Bay, Isle of Islay

Picture of a faint waterspout approaching a beachAdmittedly it’s only faint and small, but it was still fascinating (and surprising) to watch: A small whirlwind/waterspout approaching the beach in Machir Bay on a breezy November early afternoon. It moved across the beach before disappearing when it reached the dunes.

About 45 minutes after I took the picture of the wave rolling out on the beach in nice sunshine the clouds already visible on the horizon brought a heavy rain shower. And another 30 minutes later it was sunny again.
