Bàgh an Dà Dhoruis and raised beaches in the far north of Islay

One of my favourite beaches on Islay and the most northerly beach on the island, Bàgh an Dà Dhoruis near Rhuvaal lighthouse. The raised beaches along the north coast of Islay are towering over it while Mull and Jura are visible in the distance.

A different take on the Mull and Colonsay from Sanaigmore view I posted a few years back, this time taking in more from the Islay side of the view.

Calm and choppy waters at the Gulf of Corryvreckan, Isle of Jura

A view of contrasts at the Gulf of Corryvreckan, driven by the Corryvreckan whirlpool: “Calm” waters in front of us (although it is still moving with strong currents) with quite choppy waters right behind. This scenery was constantly changing, with calm waters turning into strong eddies and currents and vice versa. An amazing sight, difficult to capture in a picture, much better experienced in person.

The Isle of Mull visible on the horizon.
