Rocky coast from Rubha Lamanais, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a rocky coastline with low cliffsA bright and sunny although hazy view from the west coast of Islay. For this view I had climbed up a bit on Rubha Lamanais (to many known as the Opera House Rocks). The view is south west, in the top left corner is Saligo Bay. If you look very closely you can just about make out the crags with the radar station above Machir Bay in the haze behind it.

Picture of a big wave splash over rocks, distinctly shaped cliffs in the backgroundHigh tide in Saligo Bay on the west coast of Islay, a big surf rolling into the bay, breaking over the rocks and sending spray high into the air. In this view spray is thrown 20-30 feet into the air under the backdrop of the Opera House Rocks.
