It’s often worth staying a bit longer after sunset to enjoy the beautiful mild colours of the gloaming, the last light after sunset. This is the gloaming after the summer solstice sunset over Islay and Jura seen from the west coast of Gigha. Also notice the crescent moon which has appeared in the sky towards the left.

A sunny summer view from the west coast of Gigha, looking over to Islay (left) and Jura with the distinctive Paps of Jura (right). The view is from the Western Link Path, one of the several beautiful paths around the island.

A mostly cloudy June evening at the southern end of Gigha near Gròb Bàgh, looking west to Islay (centre) and Jura with the Paps of Jura (right). When I took the pictures for this panorama the sun was just hiding behind the clouds (it did show briefly at times), but it is just right of centre between Islay and Jura.
