MV Isle of Arran passing the Paps of Jura

Picture of a ferry passing mountains on an islandA view from a ferry to Islay, the other ferry going the other way to Kennacraig. The other ferry in this case is the former (she’s now a relief boat) Islay ferry MV Isle of Arran. In the background the Paps of Jura with some interesting clouds draped over them.

On the morning ferry from Islay to Jura

Picture of a red Mini Clubman on a small ferry across a sound between two islandsA picture from the day I climbed two of the Paps of Jura a few years ago. I took the first ferry in the morning from Islay to Jura to have as much time as possible. While it was a bit cloudy at first it did clear up nicely later in the day for some great views. My destination can be seen just left of centre in the distance.

Road towards the Paps of Jura, Isle of Islay

Picture of a single track road, seemingly leading to some mountainsWhile this road seems to lead you to the Paps of Jura it really only takes you closer, but won’t get you there. It’s the road on Islay between Loch Gorm and Gruinart. Some nice views can be enjoyed on this road.
