Waves rolling into Machir Bay, Isle of Islay

Picture of a bay with a big swell rolling in onto the beach, a wreck on the beachA nice swell rolling into Machir Bay on a sunny April afternoon on Islay. The waves breaking behind the old wreck on the beach providing a reminder of the dangers of the sea.

Picture of a wave running through a wreck on a beachAnother view of the wreck on the beach in Machir Bay on the west coast of Islay. I just think it’s very photogenic at the right conditions, especially tide. This wreck I’m told is believed to be an early steamship called Patti and wrecked in the 1840s, not much else is known. I think it’s quite impressive that so much of it has survived so long.
