An interesting rock formation from the far north coast of Islay. If memory serves me right this is of volcanic origin, I think magma was pushed up through small gaps in the earth’s crust and when it cooled and hardened this is what remained. Something along those lines. Of course this was many hundreds of thousands of years ago, well before Islay in the shape we know today started to exist.
