A memory from the early days of amateur drone flying (and filming) back in June 2013. I don’t think affordable drones with built in cameras existed back then, instead it was a GoPro in a plastic holder (which you had to start filming before you took off and stop after you landed, as there was no remote. Also no video stream to a display. You just pointed the drone into the vague direction you wanted to film and hoped for the best). Still, filmed this video of Port Charlotte from the air on the day I took this picture. A bit shaky and wobbly, but that was all we had back then.

  4. Excellent Armin! Great choice of drone too. I still have mine after all these years and advances. It does what I need, and I enjoy the editing afterwards! Here’s hoping we can get back to Islay soon.

Preparing for a drone flight over Bruichladdich in 2013, Isle of IslayA couple of months after the flight over Port Charlotte, getting ready for another flight over the Rhinns of Islay, this time at Bruichladdich, in particular the distillery. The camera was still a GoPro, although the drone had gained some propeller guards and foam to soften the landings. This video of Bruichladdich from the air was the result. Still a bit shaky and wobbly, but that was all we had back then.
