Walking on the west coast of Islay a decade ago. The view is south from just north of Smaull (buildings just right of centre). Saligo Bay on the right. Loch Gorm just visible in the distance, to the right of An Carnan on the left. In the far distance Sunderland Hill and the Kilchoman Crags.
Coming up the hill is my late mother on the first of her three Islay visits.
On a clear June night on Islay while no midnight sun it doesn’t really get dark, especially when the picture is taken with a long exposure looking north. This is a view from near Kilchoman Church, looking towards Saligo and Loch Gorm. Low mist was forming over Loch Gorm. Only a few stars can be seen in the sky as it was still too light even well past midnight.
