A place I always like to return to, this big lump of rock at the southern end of Kilchoman beach on the west coast of Islay. Provided the tide is low enough it works nicely as a turn marker you can walk around before walking back north.

Out on a walk around Loch Skerrols and Bridgend Woods in June 2025, here my sister Imke is crossing the small wooden footbridge over the Carrabus Burn at the north western corner of the loch.

My sister Imke spotted it first and pointed it out to me, so that I could take a picture. While mostly black it has an interesting white spot shaped like a W on its forehead. It also has only one horn for some reason.
