A view north from an Islay ferry travelling up the Sound of Islay to Port Askaig: Islay with Rhuvaal lighthouse on the left, Jura with Carragh an t-Sruith lighthouse on the right. Colonsay visible in the haze in the distance. In the centre you can just make out the MV James crossing between Islay and Jura

On my journey to Islay in April 2024 the weather was very nice and I had a bit of time left, so I decided to take the detour via the B8024 Kilberry road. It’s a winding single track road so obviously much slower than the main A83 (not to forget much longer). But on a nice day like I had you’re rewarded with some nice views like this, looking past some fresh spring green across the Sound of Jura to Islay.
