Nightfall at Loch Indaal, Isle of Islay

Picture of a sea loch with a few coastal villages at last lightA view from the top of Loch Indaal on an October evening, a few Barnacle Geese can be seen on the roost in the loch. The lights have come on in Bowmore, Port Charlotte and Bruichladdich as the light fades quickly.

Picture of a small oil tanker moored at a pierMost of the oil used on Islay is delivered by tanker to Bruichladdich, where it is pumped into the large Gleaner tanks before being distributed on the island. Here the Whitchampion is tied up at Bruichladdich pier discharging its load.

A view from Bruichladdich pier to Bruichladdich distillery on a quite hazy day. While the distillery is still quite visible most of what is behind it disappears into the haze. The whisky won’t mind I should think, it will still mature as ever.
