My first sighting of the MV Isle of Islay

For an Islay visit in April 2026 I had hoped for a crossing with the brand new MV Isle of Islay, but it wasn’t meant to be. However, I was lucky enough to have two sightings of her. The first one (this one) was from Claggain Bay in the south east of Islay. I was out on the pebble beach in some beautiful late afternoon sunshine, taking pictures and filming video when I suddenly spotted the ferry on the horizon on its way from Port Askaig to Kennacraig. Quickly took a few pictures before she was gone.

Stones in Claggain Bay, Isle of Islay

Picture of a beach with a lot of stones in the sandThe beach in Claggain Bay is slightly unusual compared to many of the other beaches on Islay in that is consists mostly of fairly large stones. Not that comfortable for sunbathing but still well worth a visit.
