Leaving Islay on a rainy day

Image

Picture of a view from a ferry on a rainy dayA view back to Port Askaig from the shelter of the lounge of the departing Islay ferry. Leaving Islay is never easy, but on a day where it’s pouring it down it’s a tiny fraction easier than on a sunny day.

On the morning ferry from Islay to Jura

Picture of a red Mini Clubman on a small ferry across a sound between two islandsA picture from the day I climbed two of the Paps of Jura a few years ago. I took the first ferry in the morning from Islay to Jura to have as much time as possible. While it was a bit cloudy at first it did clear up nicely later in the day for some great views. My destination can be seen just left of centre in the distance.
