![Picture of two Lapwings low in the air, probably in some mating ritual](http://www.islay.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/pair-lapwings-gruinart.jpg)
I’m not entirely sure what this pair of Lapwings was doing, although I’m guessing it was some kind of mating ritual. Watched from the bird hide at Islay’s RSPB Loch Gruinart.

A view north west from the old hide at RSPB Gruinart. No birds immediately visible in the picture because it’s a quite wide angle, but there was plenty to see with binoculars. In the far distance just left of centre you can just spot Ben More on the Isle of Mull, the only island Munro outside of Skye.
A view from the RSPB Loch Gruinart reserve on Islay, looking over to Colonsay (middle distance) and the Isle of Mull with Ben More (far distance). A bird of prey, I believe a Buzzard, in flight above the shore of Loch Gruinart.
