Cloudy Ireland from the Oa, Isle of Islay

Picture of a view across a channel between two islandsA cloudy day on Islay, but still fairly good visibility, as this view demonstrates. The view is from the Oa across the North Channel to Ireland.

Rhinns of Islay lighthouse from Lossit Bay

Picture of a lighthouse in the distance behind a bay and steep cliffsA different view of the Rhinns of Islay lighthouse. It looks like it is on Islay in this view, not on the small island of Orsay just offshore. The view is from the cliffs just north of Lossit Bay (you can just see a tiny stretch of the beach on the bottom left), looking across the bay and over the hills towards Portnahaven. If you look closely you can also make out Ireland on the horizon.

Cliffs below Beinn Mhor on the Oa, Isle of Islay

Picture of some high steep cliffs on a bright sunny daySome of the most impressive landscape on Islay is on the Oa. These are some of the impressive cliffs below Beinn Mhòr (202m). In the distance on the left you can also just make out Ireland on the other side of the North Channel. I took this picture during the Islay walking week in April 2006.
