An impression from a walk on Islay’s neighbour Jura during an Islay walking week a few years ago. The houses in the distance are at Tarbert, Tarbert Bay is just behind the hills on the right. Mainland Argyll in the far distance across the Sound of Jura.

Walkers on Beinn a’Chaolais, Isle of Jura

I admit, you have to know they are there. But they are. If you look closely you can just make out some dots towards the left hand side of the scree field just below the summit plateau. These are the walkers who went to the summit of Beinn a’Chaolais during the Islay walking week 2014. I took the picture from around 6 miles away, from the shore of the Sound of Islay south of Port Askaig where I was with another walk.

Walkers with a dog on the north coast, Isle of Islay

Picture of two walkers and a dog on a coastline with raised beachesTwo walkers and a dog on their way west on the north coast of Islay. I think some of the best walking on Islay is along the north coast, the views along the raised beaches are beautiful.
