The wreck in the middle of Kilchoman beach, below the high water line, is believed to be the Patti, an early steamship with a square boiler wrecked in the 1840s. The remains of the Mary Ann are at the very top of the beach in the north.

Discovering the southern end of Kilchoman beach in Machir Bay on a beautiful sunny June day on Islay. At low tide I like walking between the rocks, an ever changing environment. Here a burn flows down from the hills, between the rocks and over the beach into the Atlantic.
