A great view during an Islay walking week a few years ago. Here we were on the way back to Castlehill after a great day in the hills. Laggan Bay is stretching out wide in front of us, showing how long the Big Strand is. The Rhinns of Islay and Loch Indaal in the distance on the right. The Oa on the left.

This was at Laggan Bay, the long beach close to the airport and for that reason I’ve called it “Islay’s second runway” as a gull (I think it was the same one as I have taking flight) leaves a trail in the sand.

An older picture of a view from the High Road over to the Machrie Hotel and Lodges at Islay’s famous golf course. As of writing this both the hotel as well as the golf course are scheduled to undergo a major refurbishment and make over.
