Port Askaig under construction panorama 2004, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a very large construction area for a ferry waiting area cut into a hillCertainly one of the largest construction projects ever on Islay, possibly the largest ever: The expansion of the ferry waiting/marshalling area as well as a car park and the rerouting of the road coming down the hill in Port Askaig. This is how it looked during the building work in 2004, see also the finished product in 2005.
