Seen from the ferry departing Port Askaig, a heavy rain shower is coming down in the south of the Sound of Islay.
Rain in the Sound of Islay

A view long gone, the view down Port Askaig brae as it looked back in April 2003. The road has been widened, moved slightly and generally was made safer. Nevertheless, the view across the Sound of Islay to the Paps of Jura remains magnificent.
Certainly one of the largest construction projects ever on Islay, possibly the largest ever: The expansion of the ferry waiting/marshalling area as well as a car park and the rerouting of the road coming down the hill in Port Askaig. This is how it looked during the building work in 2004, see also the finished product in 2005.
