Picture of a small lighthouse in the early morning lightA June early morning on the Rhinns of Islay at Loch Indaal. The sun had risen not long before, shining some beautiful mild light over the loch, the lighthouse and the surrounding hills.

MS Ocean Endeavour in Loch Indaal, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of the MV Ocean Endeavour cruise liner seen through some rocksAn unusual visitor to Loch Indaal, a cruise liner. Most of them moor at Port Ellen when they visit Islay, but the Ocean Endeavour stopped in Loch Indaal, causing a lot of attention and excitement. The tenders were ferrying passengers to and from Bowmore all day, from where they visited Bowmore distillery, Islay House Square and Finlaggan among various places.

Photographed from somewhere near Port Charlotte (can’t remember where exactly I managed to find this angle wedging the cruise liner between the rocks), some houses in Bowmore just visible in the background.

Panoramic picture of a large sea loch on an island on a sunny dayTaken from somewhere just south of Port Charlotte (I think somewhere in the Port Mòr area), a wide panoramic view over Loch Indaal. The Paps of Jura in the distance on the left. Laggan Point across the loch in the centre. The Oa stretching out into the distance on the right.
