Machir Bay from Turnaichaidh, Isle of Islay

From the same vantage point as the view towards Saligo Bay a view further west over Machir Bay on the west coast of Islay. You can make out the tops of the Kilchoman Crags just below, also towards the right if you look closely the Kilchoman Military Cemetery for the victims of the Otranto disaster in WW I.

Picture of a coastal landscape seen from a hillA slightly different view of Saligo Bay from one of the higher points on the Rhinns of Islay, Turnaichaidh (170m) just behind the Kilchoman Crags. Saligo Bay with Saligo cottage towards the left, the remains of the old radar installations in the centre, the track out to Smaull stretching out into the distance on the right. In the foreground you can see the Kilchoman road passing through, bordering the fields of Rockside Farm as well as Loch Clach a’ Bhuaile. And if you look very closely you can just about make out Dubh Artach lighthouse on the horizon.
