A beautiful sunny April day out at Loch Indaal, visiting the beaches at Port Bàn. This is the most southerly of the three beaches. Some sea pinks growing on the rocky shore around the beach at Rubh’ a’ Phuirt Bhàin.

For an Islay visit in April 2026 I had hoped for a crossing with the brand new MV Isle of Islay, but it wasn’t meant to be. However, I was lucky enough to have two sightings of her. The first one (this one) was from Claggain Bay in the south east of Islay. I was out on the pebble beach in some beautiful late afternoon sunshine, taking pictures and filming video when I suddenly spotted the ferry on the horizon on its way from Port Askaig to Kennacraig. Quickly took a few pictures before she was gone.

A beautiful November morning on the west coast of Islay. Some very shallow water on Kilchoman beach, left from a wave which had run over earlier. The bright morning sun rising over the crags reflecting on the wet sand.
