Following on from the Laser dinghy models to another type of model  the Mid Argyll Radio Sailing group shows on Loch a’ Bharain: paddle steamer models. This one is the Jeanie Deans 1931, which in full size used to sail on the Clyde in the 1930s to 1960s. The owner (and builder) of the Jeanie Deans also has a model of the Waverley, which he also sometimes brings to Loch a’ Bharain. Worth giving it a try on a journey to/from Islay….

Something a bit unusual/different for this blog, some radio controlled model boats. These are Laser dinghies, bringing back some good memories for me as I used to sail them in my teenage years. I watched them on a return journey from Gigha in June 2023 on Loch a’ Bharain next to the Crinan Canal in Argyll. They are sailed by members of the Mid Argyll Radio Sailing group, usually every Saturday afternoon.

Well worth a stop on your journey to or from Islay. I hope you like this picture, I’m planning to share a few more from the afternoon over the coming weeks.
