Possibly the most impressive gravestone on Islay, a memorial headstone to a member of the family of an assistant lightkeeper at the Rhinns of Islay lighthouse. I believe the inscription reads: Ja.B. Scott — August 20, 1845. I read that is uses the emblem of the Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB).

This headstone used to be at the wall between Kilchoman church and Kilchoman Cottages, where I took this picture in June 2018. However, I understand it has recently disappeared. If anyone knows where it is please share any information you might have.

A view from the only ferry that left Islay during a stormy November weekend with storm Bert. Looking back at Carraig Fhada lighthouse with the cottages next to (and above) it. Waves breaking over the rocks around the lighthouse.

A view from an Islay ferry to the mainland on a stormy November weekend during a short calmer weather window. During that window it wasn’t as wild as I had seen it at other times, but there were still quite a few people out watching the ferry leave in the choppy seas.
