A panoramic view from Four Winds (former Coastguard tower, now a tiny holiday cottage) on a beautiful sunny June afternoon. Stretching out below us is Portnahaven, behind it Port Wemyss. Towards the right Orsay with the Rhinns of Islay lighthouse. On the right just visible the southern end of Eilean Mhic Coinnich.

Starry night sky over Loch Indaal from Ballitarsin, Isle of Islay

The counterpart to the starry night sky over Ballitarsin, the view out over Loch Indaal from it. Plenty of stars up in the night sky, you can just about make out the Milky Way. The lights of three villages in the distance, Bowmore and behind it Port Charlotte on the left and Bruichladdich on the right. A car driving past lighting up the single track road below. Something I’d usually avoid in a starry night picture, but I think here it enhances it.
