It almost looks like it’s moving under its own steam, but in reality this is of course the very strong tidal current in the Sound of Islay racing past the Black Rocks buoy. Seen from the Islay ferry on a crossing to Port Askaig.
A popular stop on the journey to Islay is the Rest and be Thankful at the top of the mountain pass between Loch Lomond and Loch Long. This is the view into Glen Croe on the Loch Lomond side of the area. You can make out the A83 coming up on the left. Below the old drovers road, which is now used as an alternative route when a landslide has closed the A83. Taken on a journey to Islay in April, still some snow on the top of the hills.
