Back in 1991 the Russian factory fishing ship Kartli shipwrecked near Gigha with the loss of four lives.25 years later this memorial cairn was erected on Cnoc an Eireachdais near Tarbert Farm. The plaque is bilingual in English and Russian, the compass of the Kartli is embedded on the top.

A view of the model steamer Jeanie Deans 1931 on Loch a’ Bharain from the other end, looking at her stern with paddle action nice visible on the port side of the ship. One of the various models the Mid Argyll Radio Sailing group shows on Loch a’ Bharain. Well worth a stop on a journey to/from Islay.
