A November afternoon at Gruinart, the light slowly fading and a crescent Moon visible in the sky. In the distance some Barnacle Geese are arriving. If you look closely you can just make out some Whooper Swans on the water.

Right after seeing them flying over the RSPB Gruinart car park I watched the Barnacle Geese flying out over the flats before landing for the night.

I had just arrived at the car park at the RSPB Gruinart reserve for a visit to the bird hide when I heard the unmistakable sound of lots of Barnacle Geese approaching. Seconds later a good number of them flew right over on the way to the flats around Loch Gruinart.
