A view north on a mostly cloudy afternoon on the west coast of Islay. A good number of Barnacle Geese are flying west over Cnoc Mòr (82m) to land at the coast between Machir Bay and Saligo Bay. In the foreground the wreck of the Patti is sticking out the sand of Kilchoman beach.
Low tide in Loch Gruinart, some of the Barnacle Geese spending the winter on Islay have decided to roost here on a November afternoon.
Another view of the Barnacle Geese roosting on Kilchoman beach at the northern end of Machir Bay. The view is south west, looking towards Kilchiaran along the west coast of Islay. Frenchman’s Rocks also visible in the distance on the right.
