Bowmore from Knockdon, Isle of Islay

Image

Picture of a coastal village on an island, ships in the distanceAn unusual view of Bowmore, taken from near Knockdon north of Bridgend. The woods below are around Eallabus and Carrabus before we look across Loch Indaal to Bowmore. The land behind Bowmore is around Laggan. The Oa is on the left (not in the picture, we’re looking just past it), the ships in the distance are travelling north on the North Channel.

A colourful spring view from Islay a few years ago, gorse in bloom on the hillside below the Campbell monument near Bridgend. It has since been thinned out, but there’s still a lot of it around on Islay.
